Kristin Rothwell Honored With A Finest Award For Her Piece on Nurse’s Involvement in the September 11th Rescue and Recovery Efforts
San Diego, CA - (February 25, 2002) - NurseZone (www.nursezone.com), the comprehensive online professional and personal resource for nurses, today announced that Kristin Rothwell, a NurseZone feature writer, was presented with a Silver Award at the Finest Awards ceremony, hosted by the Health Care Communicators of San Diego.
Rothwell won the Silver Award in the Writing for the Web category for her story titled "Working at Ground Zero: From a Nurse’s Perspective." In this piece, Rothwell recounted the actions of Megan Weiss, RN, a nurse in the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in the days following the September 11th events. "Winning the award is bittersweet," said Rothwell. "While I am honored for being chosen out of several candidates, I feel sorry for the lives that were lost on September 11th. However, I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to tell the story of at least one nurse's efforts at Ground Zero, though I know there were so many others who volunteered."

The Finest Awards ceremony was held Jan. 29, 2002, at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego.
