Both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia cause a change in mental status—along with many other conditions. How do you remember the symptoms for one versus the other?

Since the hyperglycemic patient is passing a lot of urine in an attempt to dilute the glucose in the urine, the patient tends to be dry. On the other hand, the hypoglycemic patient is usually clammy, sweaty and shaky.
